Cannot shift it nearly as fast as a civic though.ĥ: 2004 Lancer wagon it's a bit too smushy.Ħ: RX-8. It's nothing orgasm worthy but it's really direct and shifts nice. Cable operated but REALLY good for cable.Ĥ: NB MX-5. Those bushings were a bit more worn.ģ: 1998 Accord and Prelude. The stock shifter is plenty precise AND nice to use.Ģ: 1998 Honda civic hatchback x3, 1990 CRX. If you replace all the rubber bushings with steel inserts, you can get a "bolt action" feel for sure but IMO it's actually worse. And all the detents are super satisfying to feel. You can pull on it like an ape, sure, but going as fast as the trans wants is actually really really fast already. The shifter goes from gear to gear without a snag, you need to apply the tiniest bit of pressure to get into gear without trouble. You can't get near a 90s civic with transmission feel. The only ones I still want to try are the ND Miata and the new BRZ/GR86.ġ: 1998 Honda civic wagon. Related topic, but the gearing is far too long and seriously takes away a lot of the enjoyment of shifting, since there is little need to shift at all. Supposedly can easily be improved upon with aftermarket numeric shifter and cables. High effort, vague, and long throws, with a lot of slop.
